March on Flow: DeFi Growth, AI Agents, and a Billion Txs in Sight

March was a busy month on Flow. KittyPunch launched a new unified DeFi app with a range of features and utility. MFL, an on-chain football management game, kicked off registration for its 13th Season. 24Karat crossed 250,000 weekly users in Japan. AI agent payment infrastructure launched on Flow EVM. And a $150K+ hackathon closed with builders submitting live in Discord until the very last few minutes before the midnight deadline.

Let's dive into it.

What's Flowin'

DeFi on Flow: Building Throughout March

KittyPunch launched a unified DeFi app, bringing spot trading via PunchSwap, stablecoin-optimized swaps via StableKitty, on-chain DEX aggregation via AggroKitty, yield farms, and auto-compounding vaults powered by Amplifi, into a single interface. One wallet connection. One place to trade and earn. The protocols inside the app have been running on Flow EVM since late 2024 and have crossed $300M+ in all-time volume. A self-repaying stablecoin, $KUSD, is next on the roadmap. AggroKitty is now integrated as the core routing layer for consumer apps, making it available as open infrastructure for any builder on the network.

MORE Markets, the largest lending protocol on Flow, announced $ayUSD Vaults with AlphaYields for AI-managed modular vault deployment. Right now, they are only available for early access to a select range of users, but are expected to roll out wider soon. Follow More Markets on X to stay up-to-date on when they are available!

A technical tutorial from Joshua Hannan showed developers how a single function call swap cuts fees by nearly a third, using FlowTransactionScheduler, directly benefiting every automated DeFi strategy on the network.

YOLDR, a consumer DeFi vault product, launched on testnet: deposits locked in a vault, yield auto-funds leveraged positions while deposited principal stays in the vault. YOLDR Mainnet launch has yet to be announced, but keep an eye out and follow them to see when it's live.

AI Agent Infrastructure

March marked a serious infrastructure milestone for proving that Flow is the network where agents live.

x402, the HTTP-native micropayment protocol, went live on Flow EVM on March 20. x402 lets AI agents pay for APIs and services natively using HTTP 402 headers. Sub-cent settlement. No human approval loops. No custodial wallets in between. Flow EVM is among the first networks to deploy this protocol.

Why does this matter for Flow specifically? The architecture already supports it. Protocol-level account abstraction means agents can manage positions and execute transactions with native multi-sig and key rotation, without the user managing gas. Every transaction settles with cryptographic finality in seconds. And Forte's scheduled execution means agents can act autonomously on-chain without external relayers. The pieces that AI agents need to manage real assets are already built into the protocol.

Collectibles and Consumer Products

NBA Top Shot had a huge moment this month when VelvetHoop pulled a Cooper Flagg 1-of-1 Signature Series live on camera during a Top Shot Break. The clip traveled across the collector community generating a lot of buzz and excitement. Alongside big pack pulls, there were big Moment purchases: A Season 1 LeBron James serial #1/59 traded for $19,500 on Flowty in March.

Disney Pinnacle ran its Shamrock Jubilee campaign (Mickey & Friends: Luck of the Irish, March 3-24) and launched Star Wars Saga Vol.3 installment 2 on March 17. The platform spans Disney, Pixar, and Star Wars IP, with 50M+ US Disney+ subscribers eligible for exclusive monthly pins. Legendary drops on Pinnacle continue selling out in seconds, collectors are creating Pinbooks and showing off their collections, and the Pinnacle team announced they'll be attending D23 again this year.

📖 Every Disney fan has a story, and some of the best ones are still waiting to be written.

We're thrilled to share that Disney Pinnacle by Dapper Labs will be at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event in Anaheim, August 14–16, 2026! 📍

MFL (Metaverse Football League) opened its Season 13 registration, the 13th consecutive season of persistent on-chain football management with 5,000+ managers and $5M+ in in-game assets. Season 12 playoffs wrapped in late March with Rollover Day on March 30 (players aged, promotions and relegations took effect, pre-contracts finalized). MFL also launched a revamped guide and news platforms to help new users. With a $20 cashback promotion for Season 13, described by the community as "the best promo they've ever run", now is the perfect time to get started with MFL.

24Karat continued scaling its digital collectibles vending machine network across Japan, with 2,000 machines from Hokkaido to Okinawa. 250,000 people interact with Flow-based collectibles every week through the 24Karat platform and vending machines. With 300+ VTuber creators and enterprise brand partnerships, 24Karat is proof that mainstream adoption does not require a single onboarding tutorial. Next up for 24Karat: a multi-country expansion to Taiwan and South Korea.

Ticketmaster has minted and distributed over 100 million NFTs on Flow, reaching over 13 million consumers, a milestone independently confirmed by Messari's Q4 report. This represents one of, if not the, biggest distribution of crypto assets to mainstream users in history. Ticketmaster users are now able to store digital ticket stubs in their Flow Wallets, preserving the memory of the events they attended, permanently on-chain.

Builders: PL Genesis, Grants DAO, and New Projects

PL Genesis

The PL Genesis: Frontiers of Collaboration Hackathon closed on March 31 with $150K+ in prizes. The hackathon ran two tracks:

Flow was the largest sponsor with a dedicated $10,000 challenge pool for builders to reimagine the future of finance: 10 teams, $1,000 each. The broader hackathon covers Web3, crypto and economic systems, AI and robotics, and neurotechnology.

Top teams from the hackathon not only have a chance to win prizes, but can also advance to the Founders Forge accelerator. The PL Genesis Founders Forge includes mentorship, VC funding, grants, and direct access to the Protocol Labs network.

The previous Founders Forge cohort was stacked with builders and developers from the Flow ecosystem.

Results from the PL Genesis Hackathon, including Founders Forge selectees, will be shared on Friday, April 10th, 2026.

Notable submissions so far include FlowTix, a full event ticketing platform built natively on Flow. FlowRamp, end-to-end Nigerian Naira on/off ramp with KYC live. YOLDR shipped updates for a consumer DeFi vault product, including a working demo on testnet.

Flow x DoraHacks: Grants DAO

Flow partnered with DoraHacks, one of the biggest names in the developer space, to launch Grants DAO Round 2. Grants DAO funded 5 builder teams with 50,000 FLOW. Entries were open all February, and winners were announced at the start of March:

All of the submissions to the Grants DAO were interesting, unique, and exciting projects on Flow. You can learn more about them, and try some of them out for yourself, here:

Independent Validation: Messari Reports

Two independent Messari reports came out recently and together they make the clearest external case for what Flow is becoming.

The Pulse Report is the most important report on Flow you could read. Messari's thesis: Flow is the only L1 that has the potential to convert massive consumer distribution into repeat financial behavior.

Messari has backed this up with 40M+ accounts from NBA Top Shot, Disney Pinnacle, NFL All Day, Ticketmaster, and more. $1.5B+ in lifetime collectibles sales. And now a DeFi layer built on top of that same consumer base. The report frames this as a major advantage of Flow that no other network has: real consumers already on-chain, now exposed to yield, lending, and stablecoin products for the first time.

The Q4 2025 State of Flow report (covering October-December 2025) added the data layer: DeFi TVL grew despite the security incident headwinds. MORE Markets and KittyPunch together held 77.5% of DeFi TVL (each up ~10% quarter-over-quarter). Developer activity hit an all-time high. Ticketmaster crossed 100M NFTs. Messari points to this evidence as proof the consumer layer of Flow "operates less as a crypto application platform and more as embedded infrastructure for mainstream digital experiences."

This is the consumer thesis of Flow in one sentence: a network that can manage the scale, throughput, and demands of serious consumer traffic.

What Comes Next for Flow

Consumer DeFi infrastructure continues to ship. Flow Credit Markets, Peak Money, and the broader yield ecosystem are in active development. A stablecoin migration from Dapper Labs, denominated in PYUSD0, is expected to bring significant new liquidity on-chain. The network is close to 1 billion lifetime transactions, a milestone that has been building for five years.

Alongside this, PL Genesis hackathon winners will be announced in April. Some of the top teams will move into the Founders Forge accelerator, culminating in a demo day in Dubai. Expect to see at least a few Flow builders make it into the Founders Forge!

Following the completion of global exchange resolutions in early March (full details), three Korean exchanges (Upbit, Bithumb, Coinone) ended FLOW trading support on March 16 following a DAXA decision. The withdrawal deadline for these exchanges is April 16. Impacted users have until that date to withdraw their tokens. For more information on this situation or guidance on how to withdraw your tokens, see this article: Korbit Confirms Full Flow Services

For any NBA fans out there, reminder that the NBA Playoffs tip off on April 18. Keep an eye out for Playoff Moments, challenge sets, and collector-focused campaigns from the NBA Top Shot team!

And finally, a reminder of ongoing commitment: in February, Flow Foundation completed a 50M FLOW buyback and permanent burn, part of a 100M+ FLOW commitment to reducing circulating supply. The burn is verifiable on-chain. It was the largest tokenomics action in the network's history. Flow Foundation is also committing to acquiring a minimum of an additional 50,000,000 FLOW from the open market over the coming months, to be held in the Foundation treasury. This is a direct, sustained investment in the long-term health of FLOW.

March was a building month. The exchanges came back. The Korean situation remains open. The DeFi ecosystem shipped. The builders showed up. AI agent infrastructure went live. And the network is now less than 25 million transactions from a billion lifetime transactions.
