Flow is a Layer 1 proof-of-stake network purpose-built for consumer applications, AI agents, and DeFi at scale. A multi-role node architecture (Collection, Consensus, Execution, Verification, Access) delivers sub-cent transaction costs (~$0.00001 average), ~4-second soft finality, Native VRF, and structural MEV resistance.

Flow supports two smart contract languages: Cadence, a resource-oriented language designed for safety and auditability, and Solidity, via Flow EVM equivalence (Crescendo upgrade, September 2024). The Forte upgrade (October 22, 2025) shipped Scheduled Transactions and Flow Actions, giving developers protocol-native automation and composable DeFi primitives.
