FLOWS TAILGATE ALASKA EDIT
This was our Vessel for the next Three weeks, a 36 foot RV with two slide outs and yes that’s a trailer behind it filled with wood pallets. Talk about sketchy drive, we had a 6-7 hour drive ahead of us with this big rig.
This is what the inside looked like after we picked up our generators, tents, product and supplies. Asking for it…
When passing thru Glenellen on the way to Flows Tailgate Alaska it is a MUST to stop and get fireworks from Jon. Look for his set up behind the gas station, here ABA Heli Guide Badgr shows his stoke for his bag of goodies. God Belss Merika!!
Upon arrival it was an empty lot just waiting for RV’s, Snowmachines and Happy People
After a couple days Basecamp started to come together
This was where most our Team Riders stayed, an Alaknak Hunting Tent
Shin shows us the comforts of inside, yes it got cold but only when the fire went out… once a night, so dress warm. I suggest sleeping in your NXTZ Balaclava Look at how bundled up Nathalie Zenklusen and Atsushi Ishikawa are in their cots…
Then it was time to GO SNOWBOARDING! Look for the edit to drop soon!
When night came and the Beer Garden Shut Down we gathered around the Flow Campfire, usually the sun sets at 9:20 pm so it’s long days up in AK
The inside of the Flow tent was THE spot to chill in. In the mornings to grab a cup of FREE Ravens Brew Coffee, warm up, check e-mail, plan the day and meet up with other crews, discuss different zones and snow pack. Pictured here: Kevin Addy, Jason Gretzinger, Brooke, Bridget, Celia Miller, Sarka Pancochova, Kinger and Lago
And below is what we all Live for… Powder
More to come soon…
Flow Employee Mark L put together this little edit from Flows Tailgate Alaska
At Flow Snowboarding we do a lot of events all over the world, but the Tailgate Events are hands down the best. Not because it’s our event but because the memories and friends you make are for a lifetime. Trust me we go to the X-Games, Dew Tour, Grand Prix and a few other Big named events and nothing compares to Tailgate. Yes it’s not as action packed with tight pant wearing people doing double corks and there’s no free hair products, but it does bring backcountry enthusiasts from around the world together in search of the same thing… POWDER
Here’s a little tour of Tailgate BC 2012 Music by The Beer Boys
This was the 1st year of many to come for Tailgate BC up in the Great White North, Snowmobiles, Helis, Chairlifts and a ton o SNOW
“Man Games” were a hit as usual, every night Tailgate BC would throw some type of manish games. Axe throwing, Hammerschlaggan, Beacon Search and my favorite the Log into fire barrel overhead chuck. Hanna B won the Axe comp one night, so it shows anyone can participate in a Tailgate event, even you.
Mornings at Basecamp were popping, everyone was gathering in their different groups to go riding, weather to go Snowmobiling/snowboarding , the ski resort or Snowcat Boarding with Soul Rides Snowcats. The Flow Team grouped up this day to go up in the bird/heli with Eagle Pass with guide Scott Newsome (pictured below)
One awesome thing about Eagle Pass is that they offer complementary Avalanche Airbag Systems with full Avy kits inside. Shovel, Beacon, Probe and most important the Airbag it’s self. Here Scott teaches us about the use of the system and the Avalanche danger in our area for the day.
More on Avalanche Airbags HERE
Eagle Pass also offers a warm lunch while out in the backcountry Heliboarding. Soups on!
One night Eagle Pass threw us Tailgaters a party at their HQ, Eco Bay Lodge. It was a one way sketchy road in/out and you had to call to make sure the 5 mile long driveway was clear. Iphone pics
Until next year… Thanks to the good people of Revelstoke for your great hospitality & all that attended. See you in AK!
