Flow Snowboarding team athlete Lydia Silber has been slaying it in Colorado taking three National titles in 2 days, winning gold in Halfpipe, Rail Jam & Slopestyle at the USASA National Championships at Copper Mountain.

“It was such an amazing week,” said Lydia Silber. “When you want to reach a goal, a dream… anything… you must go work your butt off because it most surely will not get handed to you.”

“Every day before practice I thought of how cool it would be to get on top of that podium three times.” Lydia continued. “That encouraged me to go out that day and learn new tricks, have fun, and get to work. Also, that fact of knowing that 30 or so girls are coming from all around the U.S. to compete, really gets me motivated to work hard. I couldn’t have done it without the help from each wonderful individual at the Flow Snowboarding family. Everyone working at Flow made a huge impact on how I looked at my snowboarding!”

“It’s amazing,” said her father Jay Silber. “She won the halfpipe and rail jam on Monday. This was a 12 hour day of riding that didn’t end until 9 pm. Then won Slopestyle on Tuesday (after only getting 5 hours sleep) in the Breakers Girl Division at Nationals. She said at the beginning of the season that she was going to try to win all 3 this year. She worked her butt off 5 days a week this season and made it happen. We are very proud of her and the effort she put in to reach her goals.”

Lydia’s brother Freddy Silber also had a strong showing at the USASA event at Copper Mountain.

“Freddy had a great season too,” Jay Silber added. “He had 4 top 3 finishes out of his 5 competitions and then he placed 16th out of 70+ riders in slopestyle this week at Nationals.”

Have you had a chance to read our interview with Jay Silber, Lydia and Freddy’s father yet? It is a great story about how snowboarding has now spanned three generations in the Silber family. Flow Snowboarding Team takes USASA Nationals by Storm

COPPER MOUNTAIN, Colorado — At the 2014 USASA Nationals, Flow rider Julianne O’neill (maiden name Brackett) took 1st in Women’s class slopestyle and 2nd in Women’s Boardercross. The young woman was on fire the whole event and was easily the stand out in the Women’s class. Riding her Flow Jewel, Julianne rose above the rest of the competition in slopestyle. “The event was perfect!”, exclaimed O’Neill,  “All the girls were cheering each other on, and each one of us put our best run down. It was good competition. I was so happy with how I performed”. However, the talented Californian was not content with just one podium. Julianne came right back with a solid 2nd place finish in boardercross. “The boardercross was so intense! It was the most fun! My heart pounds so fast when all of us girls are rubbing elbows. Huge thanks to Adam Neil and the ASC team for helping tune my jib board! I rode my Flow Jewel in slope and boardercross, it might be my favorite board that Flow has!”. Continue reading

Get to know Small Fry Shredder Sophia Capua

With most sports, the common theme that you hear is “ Start ‘em young”. Sophia Capua embodies the very essence of this phrase. At just 6 years old, Sophia is snowboarding well beyond her years. She is one of the hardest working Microns with Flow. She puts out monthly edits that are creative and fun, snowboards any chance that she gets, and is already getting photos in certain publications (most recent in Summit Daily). But if you ask Sophia, snowboarding is anything but work. She is doing it for the simple fact that snowboarding is fun.

Snowboarding Is…

For a young aspiring snowboarder, snowboarding is everything. For Sophia Capua, snowboarding is FUN. The main reason that most of us start to do anything, is for the simple fact that it is fun. Sophia hasn’t lost sight of that belief, and from the looks of it, she probably never will. This pint sized shredder loves snowboarding and is constantly pushing her parents for more time on the mountain.

Local Spots & Favorite things about Snowboarding

Sophia hails from Colorado and frequently inhabits the local spots of Copper Mountain & Loveland Ski Resort. The young Micron snowboards at any chance that she gets. For this reason, “Dad’s Park” (a.k.a the Capua’s backyard) was created. Sophia is not scared one bit, she loves hitting rails and doing jumps that seem to be nearly 3X her size. Anytime that Sophia can have a snowboard under her feet is a good time.
