The past few years Colorado’s Sophia Capua has been proving to the Flow Snowboarding family that it is never too early to get your little Flow Micron to kick into their snowboards. Now that this winter’s competitions are settling down, Flow had a chance to catch up with Sophia’s mother Pam Capua, to take a glimpse at the Capua Clan.

Where is home for the Capua Clan?

Aurora, CO

Are you guys originally from the Colorado area?

I am from California and my husband Trapper is from Hawaii. Sophia was born in England and Trapper Jr. (TJ) was born in Japan.

Check out the latest GoPro edit from Flow Snowboarding Global Professional Tim Humphreys sessioning Boreal Resort in Lake Tahoe, CA. It was a pretty bad snow year as the Sierras recorded near record lows for the 2014-15 winter. Humpy still proves there are plenty of good times to be had sessioning the park at Boreal Resort. All shots were filmed on Humpy’s GoPro Hero4 Black Edition.

Lydia Silber Takes 1st in USASA Halfpipe, Rail Jam & Slopestyle

Flow Snowboarding team athlete Lydia Silber has been slaying it in Colorado taking three National titles in 2 days, winning gold in Halfpipe, Rail Jam & Slopestyle at the USASA National Championships at Copper Mountain.

“It was such an amazing week,” said Lydia Silber. “When you want to reach a goal, a dream… anything… you must go work your butt off because it most surely will not get handed to you.”

“Every day before practice I thought of how cool it would be to get on top of that podium three times.” Lydia continued. “That encouraged me to go out that day and learn new tricks, have fun, and get to work. Also, that fact of knowing that 30 or so girls are coming from all around the U.S. to compete, really gets me motivated to work hard. I couldn’t have done it without the help from each wonderful individual at the Flow Snowboarding family. Everyone working at Flow made a huge impact on how I looked at my snowboarding!”

“It’s amazing,” said her father Jay Silber. “She won the halfpipe and rail jam on Monday. This was a 12 hour day of riding that didn’t end until 9 pm. Then won Slopestyle on Tuesday (after only getting 5 hours sleep) in the Breakers Girl Division at Nationals. She said at the beginning of the season that she was going to try to win all 3 this year. She worked her butt off 5 days a week this season and made it happen. We are very proud of her and the effort she put in to reach her goals.”

Lydia’s brother Freddy Silber also had a strong showing at the USASA event at Copper Mountain.

“Freddy had a great season too,” Jay Silber added. “He had 4 top 3 finishes out of his 5 competitions and then he placed 16th out of 70+ riders in slopestyle this week at Nationals.”

Have you had a chance to read our interview with Jay Silber, Lydia and Freddy’s father yet? It is a great story about how snowboarding has now spanned three generations in the Silber family. We have all been become part of the snowboarding tribe for various reasons. We here at Flow Snowboarding want to hear your story? Engage with us on Social Media.
